Did you know?
Rabbits are hind gut fermenters. This means that their digestive system is not very efficient when compared to a ruminant. Consequently rabbits need to eat a lot of grass in proportion to their body size in order to sustain their metabolism. That's why 10 rabbits can eat as much as one sheep! Under ideal conditions two rats can potentially produce 1250 rats in a year, and the population will grow exponentially from there. Rodents are known to spread at least 35 zoonotic diseases (diseases that can transmit from animals to humans).
Pigeons can defecate as much as 30 times a day. One pigeon can produce 11 kilograms of faeces a year. Pigeon faeces is well documented to pose potential health risks to humans through the spread of three zoonotic diseases.
